Los Kjarkas was formed in 2007 in La Paz, Bolivia by a group of friends who shared a passion for music, folklore, and experimentation. The original members were Gabriel Mindola (guitar, vocals), Mauricio "Pachu" Pereira (drums, percussion), and Juan Carlos "Tutu" Camacho (bass, keyboards). The band's early sound was characterized by their use of traditional Bolivian instruments, such as the quenacho (a type of flute) and the bombo (a large drum), combined with modern rock instrumentation.
