For emergency editing, use Microsoft’s free online Office apps (Word Online, Excel Online) in a portable browser. For offline, no-install work, switch to LibreOffice Portable. And if you absolutely must have genuine MS Office portability, learn to use virtualization tools to package your own legal copy.

Many "portable" versions are not actually portable. They are simply the full Office 2019 setup files copied to a USB drive with an autorun script. When you run the "portable" launcher, it actually installs Office onto the host PC (writing to registry and local disk) and then launches it.
