iOS restricts ad-hoc network connections. Therefore, you must use or use a USB-to-Lightning adapter to hardwire the printer to your iPhone. Unfortunately, true WiFi setup from an iPhone without an intermediate router is unstable on the XP420B.
The printer will beep and reboot. The blue light will change from blinking to solid. xprinter xp420b wifi setup
Now, it was time for the WiFi setup. I navigated to the printer's settings menu, selected "WiFi Settings," and chose "WiFi Setup Wizard." The printer prompted me to select my WiFi network from a list of available options. I selected my network, entered the password, and waited for the printer to connect. iOS restricts ad-hoc network connections
Look for "WiFi 802.11" or an antenna icon. If your printer only has a USB-B port (square hole) and no antenna or internal WiFi chip, hardware limitations may prevent wireless setup. The printer will beep and reboot
I printed a test page from my computer, and to my delight, it printed flawlessly. The Xprinter XP420B was now set up and running on my WiFi network.
