Apastamba is believed to have originated from the Andhra region (modern-day coastal Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka border). His works, including the Shrauta Sutra , Grihya Sutra , and Dharma Sutra , are characterized by a rational, concise, and pedagogical style. Unlike later smritis, the Apastamba Grihya Sutra emphasizes direct Vedic injunctions and allows flexibility for regional practices—a feature that made it adaptable to South Indian, especially Telugu, domestic traditions.
