Set in Victorian London, two stage magicians engage in a bitter, escalating rivalry. After a tragic accident during a performance, Angier and Borden spend years trying to sabotage each other’s careers. The rivalry peaks when Borden performs “The Transported Man”—a seemingly impossible teleportation trick.
