The findings reveal that young Malay women who wear tudung and identify with the ATSMH community are motivated by a desire to express their spirituality, cultural identity, and sense of belonging. They perceive the tudung as a symbol of modesty, humility, and devotion to Islam. However, some participants also acknowledged that the ATSMH community has been subject to misconceptions and stereotypes, leading to social exclusion and marginalization.
