The final act is the most surreal. Sakurada, still on all fours and wearing only a collar, is led on a leash through a darkened backlot. This "walk" is a psychological torture sequence where she is exposed to the night air, treated like a stray that has been claimed. The film ends with her curled up in the cage, sleeping, as the credits roll over the sound of a dog barking in the distance.

JAV critic Takashi Yamamoto once wrote: “Sakura Sakurada in MAXD-04 is not having sex. She is performing a role that requires the suspension of human ego.” Fans argue that this is not pornography but rather —comparable to the works of Marina Abramović, but within the commercial AV framework.
