The film culminates in a surreal, quietly devastating scene: Pierre encounters a young boy building a snowman on a patch of the last remaining snow. The boy is his childhood self. They do not speak, but Pierre helps him place a twig arm on the snowman. The next morning, the snowman has melted. The resort is demolished. Pierre drives away, not healed, but no longer frozen.
