It refers to constructing an alternate reality or delusional fantasy online—jokingly pretending they are dating a K-pop idol or have a luxurious life. Far from being a disorder, Halu has become a creative genre of content, allowing urban youth to cope with economic pressures through shared, ironic absurdism.
