The film follows , a down-on-his-luck advertising copywriter in a bleak, rain-soaked New York City. It is the height of the 2008-2009 financial crisis. Leo has just been evicted, his wife has left him, and he owes money to dangerous loan sharks.
The protagonist, Arthur (played brilliantly by character actor Leo Hammond), is a traveling office supply salesman who has just been evicted.
