The film picks up immediately after the events of Resident Evil: Afterlife. Alice, played by Milla Jovovich, is captured by the Umbrella Corporation and awakens in the heart of their most clandestine operations facility. To escape, she must navigate through a series of simulated environments—including Tokyo, New York, and Moscow—that recreate the early days of the viral outbreak. This "greatest hits" structure allows the film to bring back fan-favorite characters like Rain Ocampo and Carlos Oliveira through cloning subplots, bridging the gap between the franchise’s past and its then-future.

There is, however, a price for this metamorphosis. The original Resident Evil: Retribution is not scary, but it attempts atmosphere —the groaning of Lickers, the silence of the undead. In Hindi dubbing, horror cannot survive the voice actor. When a zombie moans, "Braaains," the Hindi dub usually replaces it with a shout, " Bachao! " (Save me!) or a generic growl. The creeping dread of the original is replaced by the thrill of the predictable.
